Are Z1000-A2 carbs the same as A1’s? I seem to recall
A2’s had a vacuum fuel tap so not sure if that vac line was connected to carb or maybe head inlet.
Does anyone know or have some images?
Cheers Mike

Vac port is on number 3 carb.
It is in the same location as the breather pipes on 2 and 4 that serve each pair of carbs but links to a different drilling in the body.

Hi Mike
as stated aboveby zed1015: the vacuum port for the fuel tap is on carb n° 3.
A1 carbs have the amount of air for the idling regulated on the sides of the carbs by a screw
A2 carbs have the amount of fuel for the idling regulated at the bottom of the carbs by a screw
They're both 26 mm carbs.
To my knowledge they changed afterwards to 28 mm carbs for the MK2 and ST and returned to a screw for the amount of air because the fine tip of the screw of the A2 broke off very often when turned in too far.
The A1 carbs resemble the Z900A4 carbs.
Cheers
Philippe

I have a2 carbs on my b2, i find them a pain as they have the short pilot jets in them and when put on the kick stand the bike will stall, the bike is about an inch higher at the back though, all stock jets and settings and runs really well, i have another set of carbs 26mm with the long pilot jets and no vac stub i always thought these were a1.

The mixture screw for the a1 is underneath the carb, by the inlet.

There are several other small differences between A1 and A2 carbs. :)

Hi guys

checked the docu on the German website and my Z1000A1... I was wrong, the carbs of the A1 and of the A2 have both the mixture screw underneath the carb, near the intake rubbers, so not as I mentioned above. The main difference is the vacuum port on the 3rd carb. There are allso other minor differences.
I allso looked in the parts manual for the Z1000.
For the A1 there were two different types of carbs:
from engine number 000001 untill 012015 they used part number: 16001-299 (mine)
from engine number 012016 untill 042500 they used part number 16001-1024
For the A2 they used part number 16001-1025
For the A2A they used part number 16001-1023
There have to be several different parts between all those carb assy otherwise they wouldn't have different numbers...a bit confusing.

I have a Z1000A1 with a low frame and engine number ( produced in july '76) so I have the first type of carbs on mine.
I promise I'll doublecheck it in the future before giving a wrong answer... :blush
