What are peoples preference for a 4:1? I’m setting myself a challenge to being back on the road on my 60th in Nov.
I haven’t really ridden for ten years and spent most of my
free time restoring bikes for others to enjoy.
I’ve got a Z1A in bits and although I have a set of 4:4’s
to go on it It’ll provably end up being a garage queen
and I can do without that.
Harris 4:1 is OK, Daytona was great but used to snap the flages as it bolted ti cyl head, Devil was fabulous and really made the bike fly.
Any ideas what xan still be bought?
Cheers Mike

Why chrome. Why not stainless steel - more durable.
Delvik do a reasonably priced 4-1 in stainless. Pmc Monica is nice - Saisei.com or z-power.
If you want Chrome- Marving race, Vance Hines or Kerker.

Harris have suspended production of the old skool systems "temporarily" as the quality wasnt right apparently and are focussing on the new end cans, so you will likely be hunting for a used system.
I have not seen a Devil system in decades sadly.
Vance and Hines have a system, but it isnt cheap. Same with all the Japanese systems
Delkevic make one aat the right money, or there is the guy that makes stainless systems up in Cumbria. Exhaust Craft. He isnt cheap either, but they are allegedly good

mike, as Adrian said(kinda) 'delkevic' 4 into 1 has good reviews and stainless too.the downpipes without the silencer would be my choice as it comes with all hardware required, allowing you to fit a nice silencer as theirs although kinda cheap looks a bit sensible. either way its about £180-£300 ish with free uk delivery. check delkevic ebay shop.. good luck mate.. mark

IMHO, if you want period looks then the Kerker is the way to go. However, they are expensive.
The Delkevic is good value and likely to be more durable than chrome.

For me it would be Delkevic all the way, i have the straight type on my 350/4 and had one on my XS650, the quality is good the price is better and they are not going to suffer with rust, although you get that brown discolouration on the headers, that just shows the bike is getting used.

I have the Delkevic stainless on my bike. I like the look of it from the side the pipe comes out, less so from the other side ! It was good value for money at 280 squids though. Pretty well made too. It sounds awesome without the baffles, but too loud for the neighbourhood
