Chaps, I'm guessing that the bottom brake light on the idiot console should light when front brake is pressed.
However mine doesn't. I've no brake relay switch, never had one. The rear tail light works Ok, but it is bugging me as if prefer it working . Is is possible to wire it up some how to the loom wires .

Is that idiot light to tell you the brake light bulb has blown?

You can wire it parrallel with the brake lights so it comes on with the brake, that will not however alert you to the bulb being out. The outage switches come up on ebay occaisionally, and somebody on here will probably have one kicking around

Most of the old z series 440 etc had these outage relays and they do crop up,should flash when stop lamp blows, come on when front or rear brake applied.be aware will not work if using led idiot lamps will only function with filament types,

But you can make them work with led's if you add in a resistor in parallel to the idiot led bulb. The outage relay detects the amount of resistance between a good bulb and a blown bulb and flashes when the bulb is blown. By adding in a resistor to the led you simulate the amount of resistance a good ( normal ) bulb would give.

Been doing some digging and yes i see what they do now. ( part no 28019-001 ).
They're obviously not available anymore, and the ones that are look pricey and sometimes not tested. I can live without one though.

Yes Paul. Deffo works as one of my 650s runs a complete led idiot light dash system I made up. Without a resistor the led is on all time as the gismo thinks the bulb is blown.

Look on ebay germany. Normally only 20 quid ish the for some reason. Pretty much all manufacturers fitted them and had the same con block so doesnt need to be a z one.
