Fuel tap.
KZ1000CSR(81)
Ok,Im ready to give up.Tank has been cleaned and tap rebuilt,I dont know how many times. Inline filter fitted and 4x new sets of float needles and seats fitted.
Fuel still pissing out all over the place when the bike is parked up. All will be well for 2,3,4 weeks, then it just lets go.Im so frustrated with it. Fed up.
Anyway.Im looking for an alternative fuel tap. A manual (non vacuum)one. On/Off/Reserve. bolt holes are 44mm heart to heart. Cant afford a Pingel, looking for another japanese model. Anybody got an idea of something that might fit??

Re: Fuel tap.
Have a look at the fuel tap for the Z650 - might sound odd, but have a look
I wanted the same on my Z1000 - simple on/off/res tap, with 2 bolts (can't remember spacing measurement) - found that the z650 tap uses the same bolt spacing and is about 1/2 the price of the z1000 vacuum happy days

Re: Fuel tap.
That looks like a vacuum tap.
Re: Fuel tap.
I thought all taps with bolt holes were vacumn taps, obviously mistaken - looks like it is specific for LTD, CSR and police models.
Suspect your best bet will be American suppliers like - Z1parts, Z1 Enterprises or US Ebay.

Re: Fuel tap.
My Z1000J tap did the same as your CSR one, replaced it with a Pingle, which has given me a load more problems.

Re: Fuel tap.
51023-057 is non vaccuum used on Z650 B1 and C1
Re: Fuel tap.
Absolutely not looking for a direct replacement.Looking to get rid of the vacuum and go manual. Hoping that a manual with bolts is available. I was planning to head up to my local breakers this afternoon.Hes got a CSR650 listed for parts but thats on your list Adrian so its probably a vacuum tap as well. Ill take my tap up and see what he has that might work.
What was your solution in the end Julian and did you ever figure out the cause of the leak in the first place?

Re: Fuel tap.
Got any idea on the bolt hole spacing on that one?

i dont think you would have a good enough flow of fuel with this type of tap as they are only fitted to the smaller bikes with single or twin carbs ?

Re: Fuel tap.
I haven't solved my one yet (to be fair to it, the Z hasn't been touched for months as I've been busy sorting my FZ750)
The problem I have is realted to float valves sealing really, caused by contamination in both the fuel tanks I have, I'm tempted to cut open one of my fuel tanks, have the inside shot blasted back to bare metal and then get the tank welded back up again, or maybe get it lined with a petrol proof plastic as my experience of the epoxy based pour in linings is that they go soft and break up after being soaked in petrol for a year, contaminating your carbs.
But this will have to wait for a bit as I want to get the Yamaha how I want before I return to the Z - which will be shortly as I think the FZ will be finished by the end of May.
