Z900 Valves

I was just removing the valves from a z900 head and found an additional shim under each of the lower valve spring seats. The shims are all stamped VSI and 203. Please see photos of the item below. Can anyone lets me know anything about these items as they don't appear to be listed in the parts manual.

There used for setting your valve spring height after your seats have been cut.
