z900 generator cover

The generator cover on the z900 has some strange marks that i simply cannot get out and am starting to think it may be chrome plate despite using wet and dry its stuck fast, looked like paitn when i started to strip it. ANY HOW the question is are the replica covers that you see worth the money or are they inferior grade and not worth the bother
