Rear brake pedal return spring fitment

#1 PostAuthor: ChrisB » Mon Jun 18, 2018 4:35 pm

Can anyone suggest the best way to re-fit my brake pedal return spring without scratching my newly painted frame?
Just to make this quiz harder, my footrest mounting pins are seized in solid so i can't whip them out to persuade the pedal past the stop bolt bracket.
Thanks everyone!

Not tried this recently so can't offer any tried and tested solution. I have seen a method of getting the centre stand spring on by expanding it and fitting something between the coils so that it is long enough to easily fit. It was with pennies with the centre stand, not sure if you have room for that on the brake pedal, but some kind of build of small shims or washers may help.

Have not done this for a long time. Can’t remember how I did it. Apologies my memory is not what it once was. Good luck. Regards Adrian.

hook the spring on the frame first then push the lever through the spring about half way then use a piece electrical wire & loop it over the the spring drape the wire behind the lever & pull the spring down past the lever then push the lever fully home & release the spring its easier with two people
