Anyone know what this is? It’s some kind of M5 captive nut the part number on the bag is barely legible but looks something like 02350 3300 :Oo going through some stuff in a parts drawer trying to identify

I’m pretty sure it’s an engine part

its not a kawasaki part number they don't begin with a 0 & i have never seen one fitted it wouldn't be an engine part with a 5mm thread

Yeah I know the part number is wrong I was just saying what it looked like it’s impossible to read. The reason I thought it might be an engine bit is it’s in a box where most of the bits are identifiable and are Kawasaki engine bits, apart from an H1 brake dust seal, mostly z750 or z650. There’s some other cam cabin rubber blocks I don’t recognise either I’ll post pics of those too.

The door card things were generally just clips for self tappers they didn’t normally use a captive nut.

My guess is that silver bit isn't supposed to be there, and it is, as Mark said, a fairing fastener.
My old ZX10 (89) used something very like that for fairing panels part no. 92015-1710 or 1751?

I think it’s meant to be like that - it’s a new part in a bag, if you saw it you’d know it isn’t something cobbled up. Could be from anything I guess, it’s just all the other parts are Kawasaki mainly early eighties.

Looks like a heavy duty "speed nut" - the sort of thing that clips onto the top of the inner wing on a 60's / 70's car and is used to bolt the outer wing to the inner wing.

You can hang on to that for as long as you want to, I guarantee you will never need it, you throw it away and within a month you will not only need it, but you will find they are are like rocking horse pooh. It doesn’t take up much space so treasure it. Signed, a self confessed hoarder.
