Do the front and rear discs on the A1/A2 Z1000 have the same dish depth?

The Kawasaki z900 A4, Z1000 A1 / A2 Front Discs to spoked wheels all have the same profile - 4 hole fixing, diameter and offset.
Kawasaki mag wheels have a different offset, as fitted to LTD versions and also Z1R's.

Mmm! I have a bit of a bits and pieces bike I'm putting together from various parts I've assembled over the years! I have some A2 spoked wheels, didn't have a swing arm so got a second hand one, put it all in the frame everything fits well, until I put the disc on, it seems to bind on the rear calliper, i.e. looks like too much dish on the disc! I've just found a second hand B model disc, as it looked like it had a shallower offset?

Yes the front and rear are not the same, front thinner than the back and more of a dish on then than the back.

Rear disc has less of an off set than front discs, as Dave’s post.
Discs for Mag alloy rims are also different to spoked wheels as the hubs ( both front and rear) are a different width - which I found out when I fitted Z1R rims on my Z1000A2. I managed to find some Z1R spacers, but you may have to get some new spacers machined up.

Z1R wheels might be different to cast Z1000 ones my A1 used to have aftermarket Kawasaki wheels (A2 option) which took the discs straight off the wires. Think about it why would you even have considered changing to cast wheels if it was going to be the price of the wheels plus three new discs at 1978 Kawasaki prices...?
...unless these were specific A1 wheels which is unlikely I’d have thought.

The replacement disc arrived with an alloy spacer in place, removed that, and put it on the wheel and it all fits

so now have a basic rolling chassis! Next up sorting the brakes, just going to rebuild the standard stuff for now. Then to sort the engine, (barrels off for rebore at the moment), and then get it in the frame, if I can remember/workout which engine brackets and bolts go where!

Good news. Glad your disc conundrum is sorted.
