Stick coils
Anyone used stick coils on there z900/1000, it's a chop/bobber with 1045 motor, trying to get rid of the coils
Re: Stick coils
I don't think it would look very attractive though, stick coils are quite big and designed to be hidden down a spark plug well, not on show.

Yes I agree, but there are some shorter versions, I believe,
Re: Stick coils
You’re not getting rid of the coils you’re just moving them nearer to the plugs. You’re just getting rid of the leads.

Sorry I should of explained more, the coils at the moment are under the seat, I want to move the coils to shorten the leads, if there where some asteticly pleasing stick coils that would be great, if not, I will have to make space under the tank/headstock area, is it that bad of a question? ???
Re: Stick coils
Most stick coils are designed to run in conjunction with electronic ignition. They depend on the current supplied to fire them correctly and the resistance is usually different to the Z OE coils. You could fit them on stock ignition, but even with aftermarket stuff you'd need to check the parameters will work.
I have seen examples where even correctly wired, stick coils would not spark the plugs on non OE systems. Some need an ignition amplifier to power them. A Google search will return you most of what you need to know ;)

Why do I persist in debating with idiots ? I really should know better
