good afternoon, can any one out there help me please , im rebuilding a 1979 Z1R its going well so far, but im struggling to find certain parts IE the foam damper for around the clocks and the complete lock set. if any one knows where i can these item please let me know THANKS JOHN.

I restored a Z1R ('78 D1) myself in 2014-2015 and some parts seem to be made of unobtanium...I had to buy them allover Europe and North America...not to frighten you, only to warn you if you want it completely original.
As far as your foam around the clocks is concidered; do you mean the foam on top or at the bottom?
The ones on top can be bought as a replica, the foam at the bottom is difficult to find. You can always make one yourself using a strip of insulation foam. The original foam has a tendency to deteriorate when times goes by...
The lockset ( ignition, seat, helmet) could be bought until some time ago. Maybe they can help you at Z-power, just send a mail and ask.
Maybe someone ellse here can give you a lead.

HI Philippe thanks for take the time to reply . think compo z1r has the bottom foam inserts im looking for as for the lock set i can get them individually then will have to get a locksmith to alter the barrels so one key fit all. im also after a rear brake caliper . ps i have the bike stripped down and the tank is off to paint . i have one picture of the bike when i bought it about 6 weeks ago. will add it when i figure out how too !

the rear brake caliper is the same as the one from a Z1000A1 or A2, allthough the piston can be different, not in diameter but with a "heat shield " inside.
As far as posting pictures is concerned: go to the bottom of the "reply" form, click on "attachments" (left corner) , click on "Add files" and load up a picture from your archive. Next, click on "edit" and it's done. I think you can add 8 or 9 pictures at the same time.
As far as the locks are concerned: You can find a locksmith to change the barrels , but I think you can buy a complete set with one key. I've seen it somewhere in the past but the price was rather high ( 250 Euro or so for the complete set). I change the barrels myself and you can be sure about one thing: It's a hell of a job to get the barrels out especially from the helmlock!
But, I'm not a locksmith!

Seems like a good bike to me! A rather complete bike with a big fuel tank, great. Thanks for the picture!
Take some pictures of the parts all over the garage, you'll be glad to have some memories of it for the future, believe me.

Hi i need some help again , can any one tell me how to remove the steering lock from thr Z1R im rebuilding the only problem is the bike came with no keys

Can you find the key number, it should be stamped on the other locks, keys are available.

Spoke to( compo) on this site and after speaking to him i have drilled it out, so im now locking for a lock set for a 1979 Z1R . If anyone out there has them please get in touch .ps dave thanks for taken the time to read my post john.
