Just bought a new cable for my Z1a. At 33” it’s a tight fit. There is a small radius bend at the drive end which doesn’t look right This is the size I see as correct on several vendors. The one I replaced was 37”. Front end is std

All zeds 73-77 Z1 - Z1000A1 & Z1000D1 use part number 54001-040 which is 84cm (33") long.

Later Z1000 A2/3 and Z650 use part number 54001-1002 which Is 94cm (37")

Can the drive be fitted in more than one position? That’s the only variable I can think of. The forks a sitting in the correct position. I’ll stick some pics up at the weekend. Cable bends at about 80 degrees from horizontal
Bike originally had calipers behind forks. I changed it back to standard twenty years ago
No reflection Saisei. Z Power quote 33 as well.
There’s a variety of offers in e bay. Some are 33 and some are 37
Seems there is some confusion in the marketplace

I have heard that turning the fork legs to mount the calipers behind can force the speedo drive downwards, hence a longer cable is needed. Since you have turned them back the drive should go back into the correct horizontal position.

Hope this helps.
