Re: fuel tank
You have the wrong yokes on, chances are they are 650, one of my earlier thous had the same thing, took a while to work out, changed them for the right ones and no more touching the tank.
Re: fuel tank
Before you leap to just the one answer, there are a number of things it could be, and none of them are necessarily obviously visible:
Twisted frame/headstock
Twisted yokes
Wrong front end altogether ?
Worn steering stops
Wrong bottom yoke
Wrong fuel tank
Badly mounted fuel tank
and likely several more.
Start with the easiest and work through them. Checking measurements with another bike of the same type may help, as would "borrowing" bits to see which one works.
Failing that, add a sleeve to the pin on the frame the yokes bump up to. Its not an ideal solution, but it will stop you denting the tank while you work it out. Even a temporary jubilee clip with the screw in the right place will stop that. A tank repaint and repair can cost a grand .... you dont need that

Why do I persist in debating with idiots ? I really should know better
