Down pipes discolouring
Recently restored my z9 put new pipes on pattern from zpower only done 600 mile and one header pipe is blue / browning. Firstly is it possible to clean up and can I prevent it getting worse. I know the originals were double skinned and believe the remakes are not. Cheers mark

If the other three are not blueing and one is I would guess that cylinder is running hotter than the others. Is it lean on that cylinder?

this is ok on stainless but on chrome its useless had better results with solvol especially on a bmw r100cs as i used as my daily company bike but was also used as a demonstrator bikers used to ask what i used on the down pipes as they are single skinned & get much hotter than a z would ever do

Single skin pipes will always colour up, and all you do with metal polish is take a fine layer off every time you polish them, in the end the chrome will be non existent, you just have to suck it up with the single skin pipes, at least it shows the bike gets used.
