spark plug query

#1 PostAuthor: dave cullen » Sat Sep 01, 2018 6:37 pm

If you find your bike is fouling up a wee bit after prolonged low speed running in town or traffic and you don't do a lot of high speed stuff, would it be worth dropping down a grade of plug, eg B8ES to B7ES??

It should not be fouling up. You might want to check your fueling and carb settings
Why do I persist in debating with idiots ? I really should know better :)

yeh,

This is all a bit odd, as I have posted before re my ELR, I got a refurbed set of carbs from Wired George in the states, the bike is running brilliantly on the motorway, and A roads, and it had a good dyno run, but it just does not like getting stuck in traffic, and it's fouling up, I AM running it on super unleaded to try and stave off ethanol storage problems, maybe I should go back to regular unleaded for a bit?

I really don't want to have more workshop time, so I can put up with it, was just a thought re the plugs

Over fueling on the low end.
Try weakening the mix slightly with the air screws.

rob's correct but one of the things ive done in the past is use a less restrictive filter k&n or better and drilled the air box then set up with a colour tune had it spot on ? but not on a elr box :D

7's are hotter than 8's. They run better at lower speeds. KHI changed from 8 to 7 after the first year on 650's.
