Posted not long ago about discoloured down pipes. Since renewed both sets points condenser restored bike but have never touched these it runs much better ticks over better. Checked new plugs and cylinders 1 & 3 plug ceramic around electrode was white 2 & 4 was light brown. Manual states should be light brown so 2 & 4 ok 1 & 3 hot. Was this likely to be a ignition issue or more mixture issue? When I restored the bike I did strip carbs set them as the genuine Kawasaki manual with great care. Manual also states if running hot run on cooler plug 7bes can I put cooler plug in hot cylinders and keep standard plug in cylinders that are ok. YOU NOW TELL Iam no professional engineer lol. Is adjusting the fuel mixture if you think that’s the issue to be left to a pro. CHEERS FOR ANY HELP Mark

Mark,get hold of a Gunson colourtune,tells you issues straight away...

Colour tune as Paul suggests and 7's are hotter than 8's not cooler

+ 2 for colour tune 1 & 3 running too lean

Sounds more like your points are incorrectly set for the coil shared by cylinders 1 and 3.

If the gap is incorrectly set the advance can be way off and cause the over heating you're seeing.

Use a dwell meter or multimeter if you have one or I just wire a spare lamp to the points.

Most manuals give guidance on how to set up the dwell angle.

coils & points are 1+4 & 2+3
