Z1000 neutral finder

Hello, I'm rebuilding a Z1000 engine and have assembled the cases with the gearbox. Selecting first is o.k. but it won't select the upper gears, which I presume is the 'neutral finder' doing it's thing. However, the Clymer manual says it should select the higher gears if you spin the output shaft- I've tried spinning it as fast as I can but no go. As the balls work by centrifugal force, I'm wondering if I'm just not spinning it fast enough or if the system can jam. The engine has been sitting for years but there's no corrosion on the gears,

Any help most appreciated, MikeJ

it will be fine you wont be able to spin it over fast enough by hand unless you use an impact gun on the sprocket nut

....and you'll be spinning it in 'reverse' so risk the nut coming undone.
As Z1bman says, it will be fine, never known any issues with them not going into second etc when on the move so relax :D

Hello, thanks for the reassurance, it's probably me being OCD again!
