z1100r pistons

z power tell me that z1100r and gpz 1100 use different pistons . the only rings available are genuine 1st oversize . can anyone tell me how to check if the pistons fitted in my bike are actuality Kawasaki , or aftermarket .

The one on the left is an original GPZ1100B 17mm pin.
The one on the right is an original ZX1100 as in Unitrak and 1100R1 18mm pin.

yours look to be 1st over-size (. 50) eg +half mm. should have Art stamps too.

take a look at AI's second picture above. art=genuine kawasaki pistons.. it should be directly opposite the 184 stamped on your photos.

I thought ZX1100 Unitrak (gpz a1,2,3)and 1100R1 had the same engine but zpower say they have different pistons

zx11 had Teflon topped pistons and 1100r inlets not hand polished by elfin Japanese like gpz, this I know coz i'm a sad sad anorak

z1100r & gpz1100 a1/a2 use the same pistons same part numbers gpz1100 b/1/b2 are different

Interesting that the Unitrac pistons have longer skirts and presumably must be heavier than the GPz1100b pistons?
Is that maybe partly why they need a bigger pin?
