neutral light

#1 PostAuthor: relisysxx » Sat Dec 01, 2018 5:46 pm

Got a wee problem with the Z900, the neutral light comes on when in neutral (so far so good), go'es off when you engage first (still good), then comes back on when you shift into second (eh?), then go'es out out in third, forth and fifth.
Any idea's?

Hi
when shifting from first to second gear the shift drum passes the neutral position. Maybe the neutral switch is dirty or worn or the shift drum needs attention. Take the neutral switch out and clean it, maybe it's only a bit of dirt. Take care when screwing it back in, don't force it, it's only plastic!
If that doesn't help, take a look at the shift drum, maybe the plate is a little bent or the screw got loose. To do that take the sprocket and the sprocket cover off. There could be oil leaking and make sure you have a new gasket to put on.
Good luck

Okay thanks, it's not the switch (already tried one I know to be good)) so it's off with the cover :rock
