Hello . I need to repair a lock stop on a spare Z1 bottom yoke
What material are they made of and best welding method please

I think they are cast iron, and the best way is muggy welding, which most don't do.

They are cast STEEL.
You can weld via Gas, Mig. Tig or Arc.
Probably best to use ARC in short bursts to build up a new stop.

If using arc on a cast steel opt for a hydrogen controlled electrode
Less chance of cracking occurring in the heat affected zone

I stand corrected, cast steel it is then, should be easy to build the repair up.
