Or I can sell the rim, no rust on the rim...or the bike come to think.
if you NEED the correct dates on your rims adrian, I'd suggest locating them 1st before parting with yours, an a4 owner somewhere will happily snap them up. in the meantime you can use them. unless anorak rash is setting in already ?

No Mark, anorak rash defo no!
I think newer dates are worse than no dates.
Will buy stainless rims/spokes which will look very pretty.

Hi Adrian
keep your old wheel rim, only replace the spokes and nipples. It's very hard to find a Takasago 303 rear wheel rim in good shape.
It was probably changed in the past because something happened with the original rim...so this one is part of the history of your bike.
As far as the cush drive rubbers are concerned: if the sprocket carrier has about 1 cm of radial play I would replace them, if it's less, keep them, they'll do the job.

the differences between a little boy and an adult man is the price and size of their toys!
Re: Z1a (August 73 build, USA)
Once again thanks Phillipe, will wonder into the garage for 5 mins today and check the cush rubber play, then go to the pub and watch the football.
Re: Z1a (August 73 build, USA)
Cush rubbers next to no free play at all, no damage.
Brake shoes no wear at all but will change, mechanism greased from previous and it looks new inside, Hope the rest of the bike is so well looked after, feeling optimistic.
Happy New year guys

that's the spirit ady!! anorak not evident. although i think newer dates are better than no dates.. I'd personally replace just the spokes and their holders as phillipe suggested and use your rims after a GENTLE polish. just my preference tho.,although you could probably pay for the new rims/spokes by flogging the 303s.if your bead/rim locks have hardened or turned to dust i have mine sat around doin f'all. cheers n good luck. m

May take you up on the rim locks, the stems are very rough.
