Z1a (August 73 build, USA)
Hi guys,
Need a little help if at all possible.
Starting on the rear of my bike, after the humour of getting it on the centre stand.
Rear wheel off and at once noticed 3 stalks on the rim, one being the tube inflator, what's the other 2?
What date is the rim or is it now scrap with 3 holes in it?
The hub lining has a max, once again scrap if exceeded?
Do you change the rubber crush bushes as a matter of course?

the other 2 stalks on rim are for wheel rim locks,
Re: Z1a (August 73 build, USA)
What's a rim lock? Is it a 1975 rim also?
Thanks

They're to stop the awesome power of the 903 motor from spinning the wheel rim inside the tyre...

they're held in place by the pressure of the inner tube against them and the nuts you can see on the wheel rim . they're like this..
Re: Z1a (August 73 build, USA)

i think the code is a feb 75. someone will confirm or correct this......
Re: Z1a (August 73 build, USA)
Many thanks...no good for my 73 bike then. Anyone got a 3c-f to swop?
Or I can sell the rim, no rust on the rim...or the bike come to think.

Hi guys
all said above is correct to my best knowledge. The two extra holes in the rim are for the tire grippers, 5B is the date code: februari 1975.
Max 200 mm states the maximum diameter of the space for the rear brake . The interior of the hub has a steel lining. If this is worn out you can't use the hub in a safe way, it could crack when it's hot due to the friction of the brake shoes when applying the rear brake.
So don't worry, I never saw a worn lining on a rear brake. Remove the rust and use new brake shoes.

If they fall out of the hub they are worn and should be replaced.
Re: Z1a (August 73 build, USA)
Only when I bounced the wheel off the ramp did 2 fall out.
Re: Z1a (August 73 build, USA)
The cush drive rubbers ,if they look ok you can reuse however if they've got lumps off treat to new, though can be a right beeatch to get wheel back in when new
