Hi, anyone have a view on the max tyre (& rim) size you can get away with on a standard Z650-B1?
Standard front tyre is 3.25-19 and rim is 1.85x19
Standard rear tyre is 4.00-18 and rim is 2.15x18
Any thoughts welcome.
Thanks, Matt

If you keep the standard rims, go for standard size tyres - there's no benefit in squeezing a wider tyre on, in fact you may find that it's detrimental.
If I remember correctly, it's possible to fit a 150 section tyre on a 17" rear wheel (something from an early ZX-6R or RGV say) into the standard swinging arm...

Re: Tyre sizes for Z650-B1
I have always run 100/90H-19 and 120/90Hx18 on my Z650's when using stock rims. I ran 'em back in the day and I ran them on my current bike prior to playing around with the front and back ends. There are no handling issues, and the tyres wear evenly.
I cannot see a rear tyre much bigger than the one on the SR (a 130/90 x 16) going in the stock swing arm. It is all quite snug in there.
You can fit wider tyres if you go with a Metmachex swingarm, but you would be going beyond the comfort limit of a stock rim. You would need to fit a wider rim to your hub.
In theory, and using a ruler - a Metmachex swingarm would take a 150 section (17") tyre (on the correct rim). In practice - a 140 is nearer the limit.
Been there, done it
