I have a bit of a problem with my GPz frame.
Whilst having some modifications done, the last digit of the frame number has nearly been erased by what looks like a grinding mark The frame is going to be painted or powder coated and I think that thickness of the paint will just cover up the damaged number.
Obviously, getting the damaged number re-stamped is the obvious solution, but legally, who can do this ? Will I have to produce the V5 to show the number is correct and are there any legal issues with DVLA/Police, etc
Anyone done this before ?
Any help appreciated.
Mark.

Re: Frame number damaged
I wouldn’t worry too much it still seems to be there even it’s a bit light, rub it down and give it a very light coat of black so it’s still readable then mask it off before sending it for paint or powder. Sometimes the numbers can be a bit light anyway and as long as they can read most of it and it looks correct on an old bike it should be fine.
Re: Frame number damaged
It's no big deal.
Legally it's your bike and you aren't doing anything shady so just sort it whichever way you want.
Just powder over it as is or either re-stamp the number yourself or take it to a dealer who may have the correct font stamps to do it.
Just don't involve DVLA unless you want a load of hassle for nothing.
