Just tried to install the larger of the two taper races, bottom,
and it doesn't fit. Anyone else come across this?
The secondary bore that it should press into is
50mm diameter whereas the outer race is 52mm.
I bought via Z-power and it does say the kit suits all Z1 range, A4 & Z1000. It def fits Z900-A4 as I fitted a kit today no issues.
Am I going mad?

Are you sure you cleaned out the bottom hole of the head stock where it should be placed? I've installed several of those kits and never came across that problem. The bottom outer race diameter is 52 mm, the upper is 48 mm.
Is your frame powder coated? That could explain the problem. If not, something else must be wrong...

All that OK. I could swear the entire height of the bottom outer race should be no wider than the bore deprh.
These kits, I have three of them, the race protrudes by 2mm.
The standard ball & cup fits properly.
The Z900/Z1000 the taper race sits 6mm into the
bottom race.

i measured an old ball race I kept. The lower has an outside diameter of 52 mm, the upper 48 mm.
Something happened in the past with the frame you have...maybe someone changed the headstock for one reason or another but 50 mm is too small to be standard Z900 or Z1000.
Hope you get it sorted out.
