Rear wheel spacers

#1 PostAuthor: Adrian90s » Wed Mar 20, 2019 5:25 pm

Fitting rear wheel and after threading spindle through, can't fit the wide spacer collar, have I missed something stupid? The gap is too small.

Hi Ady
are you talking about a drum brake or a disc brake equipped rear wheel?
I suppose it's a drum brake equipped rear wheel... Did you put the chain adjusters in the correct way on the spindle? Is the spacer of the rear sprocket carrier the correct way in ? Do you have all the correct parts ?
Take the wheel out again and mount all the parts you have, measure the width of them and measure the space between the two arms of the rear swing arm... if there's too much difference you know there's something wrong.
Good luck!

Hi Phillipe,
How can the chain adjusters be wrong?
On the chain side spacer, does the long part go into the sprocket carrier, have tried both ways
Thanks

Hi Ady
when the Z1B recieved an O-ring chain, there was extra material added on the chain adjuster around the axle hole.
If you have a Z1 or a Z1A, which wasn't originally equipped with an O-ring chain, the chain adjusters were not as thick, there was no extra metal ring on the side which pointed to the wheel...
If you have the thinner chain adjusters, you could mount them inside out so that the space for the rear wheel between the two arms of the swing arm becomes narrower and you don't have enough space for the spacer to be mounted. You could have the wrong chain adjusters, from a later model...and those are both about 1,5 mm thicker than the earlier type.
Take a look at the sprocket carrier. When you put it in the hub, it should be flush with the side of the hub. If it's not, the spacer is mounted the wrong way.
Why don't you measure the space you have or, even better, post some pictures, after all one picture says more than a thousand words.
