Hi
Im replacing the valves on my Z1000A1. Its never been running whilst ive had it! Should there be a difference in the length of the inlet and exhaust valves? My new exhaust valve is at least 3mm shorter than the inlet valve. Consequently the valve lifters and shims sit a lot further into the head than on the inlet side. This doesnt seem right to me?

I see the same question on FB. Interesting that one poster has suggested that some aftermarket valves are shorter. Presumably to restore some shim gap?

That makes sense, quite possibly produced for use when the seats have been cut 3 or 4 times, but you would expect to have to specify that was what you wanted.
