Hi all

I've got a Bandit 1200 swingarm that I want to use, and I've got the new spacers to make it fit the frame and also enable the use of the standard 16mm swing arm pivot. I've also got new lower shock mounts to be ally welded on. My problem is that I want to run standard front footrests and brake pedal, and the std brake pedal mount and the actuation rod to the master cylinder foul the swingarm. Has anyone solved this problem before, or does anyone know of alternative pedal/master cyl combos that I could use?
Currently discussing ways to use the standard stuff with my welder/fabricator (as I don't have those skillz) and we are looking at moving the pedal mount so that it misses the swingarm - that should work (and requires modifying the brake pedal too) but still does not quite leave enough room for the actuation rod.

If you’re doing all those mods why not just use rearets - if you’ve decent knees it’s a much better riding position imho? If you’ve dodgy knees I’m not sure...

I ran the rod up the outside to a master cylinder in the original position but off rearsets - you might be able to do a similar thing off std pegs but mine’s barely noticeable, the standard pegs are a lot further forward and down so the linkage would probably be a lot more noticeable.

I’ve also seem someone run the link rod up THROUGH the diagonal frame tube - sounds mad but seemed to work - it could be sleeved to make it strong enough.

The Tarozzi rearsets are the best, and they are not too far back either

Thanks for the info. I don't really want to use rearsets - and my knees are fine - for me, it's not that kind of bike. I have my old ZX6R for those kind of shenanigans... that said, if rearsets are a better option I wouldn't rule it out if they're not too extreme. I'll check out the Tarozzi ones.

The rearsets on a zed with standard bars give a completely different type of position to a Zx6 it’s like a standard zed but with your knees a bit higher you can hold on with your knees better and take some of the hanging on effort off the bars.

Well, mine is an old ZX6 so it's not particularly extreme. I just like the original riding position. But as I say I'm open to alternatives if we can't get around the problem. Also, I won't be running standard bars; something rather lower because high bars gives me an ache under one of my shoulderblades (the result of one of several crashes many years ago...).
Really, I want the bike to be largely standard except for brakes, shocks, swingarm and wheel rims. And a 4-1 and different paint, of course...

Tarozzis won’t cure your issue as they use the std brake rod

Cool, thanks for that. We might end up making a custom brake rod that's got a flat section. We'll see...

I wonder if there is enough meat in a Bandit swing-arm to fabricate a channel to allow use of the standard brake and footrest set-up.

I will be looking at that as I have to have some welding done on it to remove the shock mount and add the shock lugs.
