Replace Battery

Hello - don't laugh.......but I need advice on how to remove the battery from my 1976, z900. It looks like it's encased in a metal jacket and I have no clue how to remove it without undoing a load of bolts.

Can somebody please advise best practice for this? I've searched Ytube - no help there. I don't have a Clymer etc. Only just got the bike.

Cheers

Just in case you're not taking the piss
Firstly remove the RH side panel and lift the seat up for access.
Next remove the fixing and disconnect the earth terminal on the battery.
Next remove the fixing securing the hinged bracket, then partially slide the battery out.
Disconnect the vent pipe (if fitted), remove the fixing and disconnect the positive terminal on the battery.
Job done.

Thanks Guys.
Eventually got this done - that picture was very useful thank you. My battery was in a plastic box, unlike the one in the pic.

I am having issues as the battery is fully charged and lights work etc. but there is nothing happening when I press the start button. Somehting has gone wrong. Before this the bike had developed a hum/rattle at about 2.5 - 3.0 thousand revs Before and after this rev zone, all is good, but VERY annoying as those revs are used for going through a built up area. Ok once on the open road.

I'll post pics and some info when I've got it all sorted.

Thanks again.

The kill switch can be a problem if it’s faulty. Does the Z9 have a clutch cutout also?

One less thing to go wrong. First thing I’d check is kill switch... :D
