Z900 ignition timing

#1 PostAuthor: Pauldonjuan » Sun May 26, 2019 11:55 am

In just in the process of setting the ignition timing static on my Z900. Its a job I'm quite familiar with but I'm missing something obvious here.
The left hand points for cylinders 1 and 4 the back plate and the individual plate are fully retarded (clockwise) and the timing for these cylinders is still a few degrees too far advanced, points for cylinders 2 and 3 there is no problem setting timing as normal. Left hand points are so far up the they almost foul the front set.

Think I'm just missing something obvious here? My thought is that the points maybe aftermarket items and not quite right?
Any pointers greatly received.

Can you adjust 2 & 3 to get some more on 1 & 4?

No, 1 and 4 points are rotated as far as possible on both plates. Think I’ll get new points and try that :smile
