Hunting for 73 z1 fuel valve sleeve

#1 PostAuthor: 73z1 » Fri Jun 07, 2019 6:04 pm

The 73 z1 fuel valve uses a rubber sleeve between the fuel valve body and the fuel valve lever, the design changed in 74.
I bought some in 2003 and possibly later, now everyone's memory has failed.
Who made these in 2003 ?

Amazon do repop taps. A few different ones on there. Maybe you could scavenge one from one of them if you want to maintain originality and not use repop tap.

I have a few of those cheap taps that I stopped selling because they leak. I think the internals are different but I will take one apart and see if it helps.

Internals are different. I bought one by mistake

Chucked it in the bin in disgust.

73Z1,
American Classix.com used to sell an excellent replacement sleeve that I was fortunate enough to purchase and it has lasted for a few years but it is treated to a smear of red rubber grease every year after being stripped each winter.
Regards
Steve
