On a bike Im Breaking I've stumbled across a set of z1000j carbs, would these be good on my 1045cc high compression engine, 71mm forged pistons Andrew's cams etc, I've asked a couple of times and was told by a couple of members to go with z1000 28mm carbs which I had but sold when I needed some quick cash, I had a couple of sets of Vm29 flatslides which ive sold on as 29mm smoothbores were mentioned, ive now stumbled on these which I already have, I think they are bst34's, so thoughts on the the 3 different sets of carbs, 28mm Z1000, 29mm smoothbores, z1000j carbs, comparisons if you can, value/performance cheers Swirl

1000J carbs as a last resort.
VM28's will work well with the engine spec you have.

My 29mm Smoothbores work wonderfully on my J that has a flowed and skimmed head (0.5mm), B2 cams, 1mm oversize and an old Kerker race pipe.

Another set to the sale room then

I best get on the look out for some 28's again, I'll move these on and see what's about, be prepared for daft oil cooling questions next

+1 for vm28 option, bs34's should be ok too for functionality but they wont look like they belong there paul, you probably regret flogging the 29's eh?doh! I've got a spare set of vm28 pumpers i could live without... m
