Anybody know how to remove the chrome swivel plate on the seat lock fora Z1R?

I have pushed and clouted it but I don't want the damage the tailpiece. I can't see what holds it in place.

Cheers Steve

Hi Steve
when you remove it, it's almost sure that you're going to damage it...
The lock cover has a split shaft in which the end of a spring is located. The two halves of the shaft are reasonably soft and must be bend in order to release the spring. Once the spring is free, the lock cover can be removed.
Just take care and if you break it, let's hope you can buy another.
Good luck
Philippe

Thanks Philippe. I've got the spring off but the swinging bit does not want to come out of the tail piece.

I'm reluctant to push it too hard on a 40 yr old bit of plastic

Legend Motorcycles do a new replacement cover / spring if it all goes west. Not sure if its genuine but wants to be for about £45.

Either the previous owner has glued it in or it is full of crap try soaoking with some realeasing fluid, or similar. I suppose the obvious question is " does it swing through the 90' that is required to open the seat cover ? If it it does then the spring holding tangs are probably too wide apart...either way if it alll goes tits up

I think someone has had a previous attempt and distorted it. I've given it to Sean Dewis who is going to paint it. He said he will drill it out.
