Interesting - their MSDS data sheet only describes it as 'PROPRIETARY BLEND OF ORGANIC MATERIALS'. Maybe they don't want people to know :stfu :hon

Ben if you get stuck for gasket material, give me a pm. I've got some Blue Gard gasket material, especially for dealing with fuels.

I have used POR15 kits on several tanks - these clean, prep and seal and they also have a kit with stripper to take out old manky PVA liners. Cover petcock and sender holes with alloy plates, drilled to take the bolts and cut gaskets out of old tyre tube. Large rubber bung in the fuel cap hole (don't forget to put fuel cap screws back in with rubber washers to seal). Some pics of before and after.

If you need some perspective

This is the third tank I have done with coke/harpic.

They have all come out like this.

The solution can be used multiple times .

Its roughly the third of the Price .

It is completely Enviroment friendly.

I you need any more info PM me, I will gladly run through the sequence of events :)

I appreciate that this thread was started Summer last year, but I have a have continuation type questions and it made sense in my head to keep the info together. If it was wrong, I apologise and will move it.

The tank I have is good externally, but has old overspray inside with some visible rust, and no doubt hidden rust.

1. Will the coke and Harpic method work for overspray and is the mix etc the same?
2. Any particular Harpic?

I will mask off the tank and block holes.

Cheers.

I used Flowliner bio rust. It’s crystals that’s mixed with hot water just leave for about 5/6 hours depending on how rusty the tank is empty rinse and out. Got mine on eBay and very happy with the result.

Thanks for the reply.

I filled it up this morning with the Cola/Harpic solution etc.
