Does anyone know of a carb expert? Try as I might
even with some vac test kit from Chris I can't get
either of the two sets I've restored working
properly. I cannot find anything wrong at all.
Losing the will to live.

Hi Mike
the synchronisation of the Z1 carbs can be a pain in the a**, I know.
You have to do a static synchronisation first before mounting them on the bike.
If that step is done correctly the engine should run steady and the fine synchronisation afterwards is a piece of cake.
When doing a static synchronisation, there are a few points to take care of, they're described in the workshop manual
Use a wire with a diameter of 0,7mm to place in the notch at the bottom of the slide.
It's a very complex precision work and you might have to do it a few times before all the slides are synchronised.
If you understand German and if you want the whole procedure illustrated with pictures, become a member of the German forum:
http://www.Kawaski-Z-Classiker.
Send an email to Achim and ask him to become a member. He understands English.
Don't give up, good luck with it!

Thanks Philippe,
I've gone through the process 3 times now
and found nothing wrong. I will read that article just in case I've
missed something.
Did a leakdown test today and all four cylinders
are less than 5% which is better than new.
Cheers Mike
