I`ve got a 1978 KZ1000A2 and am looking for some useful advice from all you learned folks out there.
The bike is fitted with a Marving 4into 1 exhaust system, with baffles in. Standard new air filter with original airbox and snorkel. Boyer electronic ignition system with coils to match.
Pilot jets are 17.5.
The problem is every time i run the bike the plugs are black and sooty, it doesn`t make any difference when i adjust the air screw either in or out 1/2 turn or several turns plugs are still black.
Carbs are completely clean, all orifices clear.
All help greatfully accepted.
Thanks. Martin

Re: Black Plugs
Hi,
Check you have 12v volts to the coils as sometimes if the wiring has bad connections you dont get good power to the coils.
Many do the "wired george " modification that helps feed 12v straight to the coils but I have never needed to.

Thanks for the replies.
I put the electronic ignition in myself so i`m pretty certain that the connections are good , but now you have mentioned it i will check that out.
I did wonder whether 15 pilots might be the answer, it`s nice to have someone else suggest the same thing, i shall buy some and give it a try.
