Hi lads, bought my A1 from a mate who bought it a couple of years old from Farnborough, (Coburn and Hughes?)
The bike is black so must of been reprayed early on in it's life because they were only red and blue in '77?
I'm going to get it reprayed this winter and will go with black again, blacker the better!
Can't decide what to do with the pinstripe as I don't really like the stock detailing so may go without.
Does anyone know were these finned covers aftermarket or an optional extra?

Covers are aftermarket.
You should be able to sell on and pay off some of the replacements costs if you have the full set.
A2 came in Black but US market only....

Yes must of been reprayed then, never had gold pinstripes.

Finned covers are aftermarket, A2 had more subtle pin strips. rather than the sweeping ones on yours.

Really hard to get a decent picture! Like a black mirror! RAL 9005, the blackest black off the shelf I could find! Bit of a dust magnet though
Re: Z1000A1 respray and details
Nice! I like a plain black tank and this one didn't need any striping to make it look the absolute nuts. Probably the most famous Z1000 of all time!?
