#1 PostAuthor: damien.wrl » Sat Nov 16, 2019 3:31 pm

Hiya had a look can’t find anything elsewhere, need to remove my petrol cap and guess I have to drift out the pin in the hinge? One side looks pretty dilapidated... how does it come out will I need a new one?

Have Ordered new pin

Chisel and a 5lb lump work well, mind you does tend to dent the paint work.

seriously though you have to drift out the pin with a suitably sized punch and gently does it.

Getting it out is a breeze with a like-size drift/punch and gentle tapping. Putting it back in a freshly painted tank will make you sweat more!

Avoid bubble wrap and tape on fresh paintwork, the tape is likely to etch into the paintwork.
