Early Z1 disc thickness?
Any of you guys with early Z1's know if the euro bike twin disc option was thin or thick disc's?, or did thin twin discs come along after 75?

Re: Early Z1 disc thickness?
Early single discs were 6.9 - 7.1mm thick, service limit is 6.0mm.
They also had six mounting bolts.
Optional twin discs fitted to the Z1's, A's & B's were two of these discs & a different master cylinder & a different splitter for the two hoses to the two calipers.
Later twin disc set-ups fitted to the '76 Z900-A4's, as standard, were 5.0mm. Looking in my service manual it doesn't give a service limit or original thickness for these discs.
USA A4's were fitted as standard with a single, thicker disc. However, I don't know for certain, but I would assume if the optional twin disc was fitted to a Yank bike it would two of the thicker discs.
These had four mounting bolts.

Re: Early Z1 disc thickness?
There's no such thing, from Kawasaki anyway, as a thin six hole disc.
This is the reason it is easy to spot a Yank bike made to look like a UK bike.

Re: Early Z1 disc thickness?
I've had a look through the later '77 Z1000 manual & that too only gives the disc thickness & service limits for the thicker, earlier/USA discs.

Re: Early Z1 disc thickness?
I've found the service limit for the thinner A4 discs, it's 4.5mm.
This figure is cast into the actual disc carriers.
