I have tried searching this forum for the thread size of the spokes and nipples of a Z900 to no avail.
Does anyone know the correct thread, it has 40TPI and as far as i can measure it appears be 5/32nd in diameter, what kind of thread is it as i need to get a tap to clean up the nipples, has to the the correct thread angle so i need to know what thread it is.
Any one know please?

You might be able to get this information from Central Wheel Components in Birmingham. There number is 01675-462264.

Hello again, I tried Central Wheels to find the spoke thread pitch etc but they were unable to help me.
I have taken a gamble and bought a used tap on ebay, Model Engineers thread which is 5/32nd x 40TPI.
It is to clean up the nipples as i have a full spoke set which are original form a 1976 bike which i will replate.
If this tap is correct i will let you know for future reference, unless anybody knows the correct size please let me know.

Please take care...spoke threads are rolled, or swaged, into place. Nipples are likewise swaged. Cheers. Rick

You are best using a fluteless tap to reform the threads.
I use these all the time on engine casings, namely 6mm and 8mm.
They are much more expensive but are some of my most prized tools I have!
