Right then, I’ve swopped the wires around as suggested, the orange and blue on the new plug I’ve left out, the yellow is a bigger wire and is now in the middle and all works on the on off but I still haven’t got the rev counter !. The original wires to the coils are not connected.? I’ve followed the blue wire from the tacho and it ends up at the coils in the wiring diagram should I reconnect the wire ?.
The angle of the bolt holes looks similar but I’ve not tried bolting it up.
When in steering lock/side lights the ignition lights are on but you cannot start.

I’ve wired up the switch as per what Paul has suggested, switch works as it should, I’ve not put it on yet.
The rev counter is still not working, it did work up to the switch problem, when it mucked about going down to 2 cylinders it stopped working and when it came back on 4 it started working again.
I’m at a bit of a loss now as I thought it not working was to do with the switch. ☹️

Paul your a star, I’ll have a deco in the week, as I’ve changed to a full dyna tech kit I should put the black wire back onto the coil ?, I’ve tried touching the original coil wires back on the coils but no rev counter.

as i have allready said check the brown at the tachometer for power when ignition is turned on . check the black wire to the tachometer for a pulse from 1&4 coil if you have no pulse check continuity between the black wire from the coil 1&4 to the black wire at the tachometer if no continuity you have a broken wire in the harness . if you have a pulse & live feed to the brown the tachometer will be duff

Well I found some time without interruptions !,
After fitting a new set of plugs she now purrs away, the burbling from tickover to 3000revs has gone, just need to tidy the wiring up and hopefully we are good.
The ignition switch WILL NOT FIT where the original goes, it is now cable tied to the handle bars  I just hope the mot man has compassion :D
Thanks Paul I couldn’t have done it without you.

I managed to get an mot on Saturday, main fuse blew twice, it was getting hot, I’ve cleaned the fuse box up and there’s no corrosion underneath. I’ve also had apart every connector in the headlight and it now running cold.
