Z Power Z900 Loom
I'm considering replacing the main loom on the Z900 with the Power aftermarket one which seems good value after the club discount is applied - http://www.z-power.co.uk/wiring-loom-z900a4
Can someone advise if the UK and US spec looms vary widely (e.g PO switch) or whether the Z Power loom is a straight fit on a UK bike?
Any fitting advice gratefully welcomed.
Cheers,
Andrew

I'm fitting one at the moment to repro switchgear and seem to have some extra blue wires I need to figure out....
So not straightforward.

Thanks Nigel, thought it might not be - my switchgear is original.

Re: Z Power Z900 Loom
Andrew,
The bike I have with the repro harness is a 3/4 finished resto I picked up and it's all repro stuff on it.
Normally, I'd just (just!) repair and recover the original harness.

Yes, I'm leaning that way too Nigel as the worst bit is inside the headlight shell and other minor bits can be repaired.

Tell me about problems in the headlight area.

Re: Z Power Z900 Loom
Most looms can be repaired easily enough unless they have been totally hacked about, good skill to develop and its not difficult

Agree there are some extra blue wires but it was a great plug and play replacement for the original knackered loom on my Z900 (aka the moneypit)

I have mine in place with repro switchgear and everything is working except the horn, so I need to figure that out....

Nigel, i had the same issue with my z1000a2 harness and switch gear.....as soon as i clamped the switch gear to the handlebars then the horn worked. It needs the earth connection to work, via the clamping.

Yeah, the horns are daft, they have a constant live feed (with ignition on) and rely on the switch to earth it to get it to work!
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

I have permanent live on one connector and the other end is switching to earth (used beep tester to check that) and the horn works on another bike....
