Original Z1b exhaust repairs/rechrome

#1 PostAuthor: albertros58 » Tue Apr 28, 2020 6:57 pm

Hi All

I'm wanting to restore a set of original z1b exhausts, they need a couple of dents pulling out, a little bit of febrication/welding and re chroming. Has anyone been down that road and found a reliable specialist exhaust restorer they can recommend?

Thanks in advance

I am in a similar position but bought a second hand set of 4:2 for my 1000, this has put paying out more on hold for a while, I had several recommendations for a company called Silvabronze ... was intending to approach some Old school classic restorers for opinions as it was suggested that it may be impossible

Depends on how bad they are, I sent 2 systems to Marque Restore in Coventry before Xmas, one came back like new but the other was beyond repair.
The thing you need to remember is they have to do a lot of work (stripping chrome etc) before sending it to their repair guy so you will still get a hefty bill if the exhaust is toast.
Not saying I would'nt do it again but something to be aware of.

Hi guys

Thanks for all your comments and advise, my exhausts are really in pretty good condition with correct stamps etc.. only really one pipe that needs fabrication/welding patchwork etc...Guess I just going to have to hunt them down and get some quotes.

Thanks for the response
Cheers
