Decided to reunite the A4 with its original exhaust, but am slightly puzzled on the order of bushes and washers onto the hanger. So, from the outside, can someone tell me how they all go together? As I cannot find a diagram showing where it all goes.

If it's the same as the Z1-B then does this help?

By the way, the item listed as "10" next to item 17, is actually item 16 (10mm locknut). There are a few errors throughout the schematic as I found to my cost. Not sure if this is an official Kawasaki document but the big K logo is plastered all over the front page and it has "Z1B (Z900) 1975" printed on the bottom right of every page, and a reference to the frame and engine number range covering just the Z1-B. Funny then that it shows the part numbers for all the chain oiler and chain oil tank components even though they weren't fitted to Z1-B's! Like I said, a few errors crept in.

Thanks for that, I had found that diagram, but the bushing are packed as a set of 4, so where do the other 2 go? I figure it must be in the hanger somehow, but my hanger on the inside (where the nut goes) is chamfered.

Offering bits up, the bolt appears to be sized for the two parts of exhaust and two bushes, so do they 'face' each other in the hanger?

yes that is how they are fitted both bushes fit inside the hanger the kawasaki schematic shows one bush on the outside exhaust but this is wrong as the bushes are two big to fit the hole in which the bolt goes through

Are side stands normally this bent? As you can see mine now doesn't come up onto the rubber rest, it did, so how do I adjust it? Any ideas as I'm sure this issue has been seen before.

Just looked at mine,it is straight and goes up to the exhaust but still does not touch rubber properly and never has,mine has Z1B exhausts on Z900A4 but the original ones were genuine A4 and we're still the same probably due to accident at some time probably,this is a replacement standard side stand which is exactly the same .Hope this helps

Took the stand off yesterday and the mount appears to have a curve in it. I suspect this is not normal? Any ideas on straightening it as it’s a bit of a lump of metal!

the welded mount bracket is bent as a result of previous owners sitting on the bike with the side stand down

Wouldn't that pull it out rather than push it in? I suspect it was dropped and sidestand got pushed up as the bend is to the back.

That aside, anyone have any ideas on how to straighten it without having the bike stripped?

it could be the exhaust hanger has been pushed in if its been down the road how much gap have you got between the exhaust & the wheel spindle ? the chain looks awfully close to the frame

Clearance on the Metmachex swing arm is tight on both sides, it appears equidistant. But puling it out would further cause problem as the exhaust would pust the stand out further.

Anyone know the dimension the frame should be between mounts? Mine seems to be 310mm from outside one mount to the the other (bit difficult to measure exactly with the wheel in place), and reasonably similar in profile both sides (by eye anyway).

Thanks to 2 gents at the H cafe today I had a look at 2 Zeds and both had the bracket pointing more outward, so I need figure how to bend it outward. Advice so far, heat and a big hammer!
