Oil Level with Cooler Fitted

I have fitted an oil cooler to my Z900 project bike and the oil feed pipes are fitted to the bottom of the cooler hence oil drains back to sump when engine is stopped.

I'm just wondering what other people with this type of set-up are doing with regards to keeping the correct oil level?

I did a quick calculation on approximate volume of oil held in my cooler and pipework when engine running, it is around 200cc. Using this as my guide I am topping the oil level to the top mark to allow for the additional oil circulating in cooler and pipework when engine is running. (I've estimated the volume of oil between top and bottom markers on the sight glass window to be around 350cc).

Any feed back on this issue much appreciated.

With any cooler you should just run your normal oil level.
With the fittings on top , the cooler holds a small amount of extra oil so once run and allowed to settle you would top up to the stock level.
The whole system would hold that little bit more oil and it would circulate quicker on start-up as the cooler is already primed.
