Replacing the fork chrome reflector on UK Z1-B.

#1 PostAuthor: steve452 » Mon Jul 06, 2020 8:29 pm

My Z1-B has a broken fender bolt boss on the RH fork bottom leg (apparently not an unknown issue) and I've managed to acquire a decent S/H one with the bolt bosses intact. However, it does not have a reflector fitted, just the bare screw hole in the reflector position. I've tried to get the reflector off the broken leg by twisting it anti-clockwise but it won't budge. Do they just screw in clockwise or is there some sorcery required. It should be noted that the reflector is the original from when I bought the bike new so has been in situ for 45+ years (possibly corroded in?). Anyone had to replace one of these before and had similar problems?

They just unscrew, as I have just replaced them on my Z1B.

Unscrew conventionally (i.e. anti-clockwise)?

Many thanks for your help. Managed to clamp it gently in the vice and give the leg some encouragement with a rubber mallet. Bit tatty but might come up a bit with some Meguiar's.
