Re-chrome early 'arris Works Collection Zorst

#1 PostAuthor: RALPHARAMA » Fri Sep 04, 2020 9:21 am

My A4 has an original 'arris and it's a decently made piece of kit. I dearly love the howl of a straight through 'arris on a Zed so want to make it like new.

Problem is that the header flanges seem to be made post chrome. I would quite like to use a set of original Zed collets and clamps, but am unsure whether the flange is wide enough.

Has anyone on here had an original works collection zorst re-chromed?

Not if they have to polish the front pipes so thin that they tear when trying to fit them .... as happened with an Alfa exhaust I had.
Why do I persist in debating with idiots ? I really should know better :)

They can be done, as you know only certain platers will do them due to carbon contamination of the tanks, I done my own years ago, those were the days, prep is key, as for the clamps they shouldn't be a problem as you can weld a larger lip on or make an open ended compression type ring to do the job, failing that you could have a stainless Harris made up like mine, it was made in your area, but I don't know the builders name or have any info on him.
