Z1R V5c Model type?

#1 PostAuthor: Gus » Tue Sep 15, 2020 8:57 am

Hi Men

Could somebody tell me what the model declaration is on a V5C for a Z1R?

Is it Z1R or Z1000D1 etc?

Many thanks

Gus

I've had V5's with either on .
The one i've been running for 20 years is blank on the model type and just has Kawasaki as the make and the frame and engine numbers.
If you are filling in the detail on a V5 application then you can put whatever you prefer.
Z1000D1 is the official model designation for year and part identification and Z1R for marketing .

Excellent.

Cheers for the reply.

My thought was to go with the Z1000-D1 but thought best to check before some jobsworth rejects it.

Cheers

Hi Swirl

Looking at the Zpower info pages it says that the D1 arrived in 1978 and the D2 D3 didn't come to the UK because of poor sales.

It also said dealers were still selling the D1 four years later  :D :D

Cheers

Two of my mates had 1980 W plate D1 Z1Rs, both bought new.

Didn't Kawasaki give you a free Z250 with every Z1-R to help shift the last one's?...

That’s right, certain dealers gave matching Z250 with your Z1R, and you got a Kc100 Companion with the Z1300 for a while, maybe that’s what dealers should try these days
