That's something thats not talked about to much on here for some reason, I wonder why? as i'm sure some of the lads have had to do it, Sorry it's no help but someone will chip in i'm sure..

Just had to do my tank. I asked Dave at Z-power and he put me onto another company in Liegh. The product is called Kreem seal and its FANTASTIC, took two days so did it over a week end. First a etcher (left over night) then a cleaner then a sealer. The liner that you end up with is so thin so your tank wont end up twise the as heavy. Before i treated the tank i had many carb problems and leaks from over flows. Now all cured. Cost £35.00
And this will do three tanks.

Works a treat and is silver metallic colour so you really don't notice it's there when filling the tank

Yes ............ but if the tank has been done a few years ago..will the new sealant & etcher still work ?????
Mine has a brown ( like varnish ) ressidue inside which has started to flake off.
So is it worth me trying to reseal it again ????

I wonder if the brown shite is actually a build up of petrol varnish?

Exactly, so how best do we look after our tanks? is it a necessity to seal them up just because they are old or can we clean them out and remove the gum.
I guess if they are rusting then sealing is a good idea and will protect your tank and fuel system from clogging,but should we seal them before we get to that point

one of my tanks has light brown rust and i too recon that this is working into the carbs so something needs to be done.
my concern is that i dont want chemicals to ruin the paintwork on the tank which is in good condition, any tips

Was chatting to the geezer who sorted out my bike.. about the tank sealant question ....he recommends a teaspoon of oil in the tank every-time you fill up..
suppose it works on the same principle as Diesel (but not so oily) as a Diesel tank don't suffer the same corrosion as a Petrol one

Mine had same brown varnish, above kit "MARINE CLEAN part of kit cleaned" it (use nuts & bolts inside if really rough), no prob', followed instructions, plenty of rinses and hair dryer in cap and dry thoroughly (must thank the missus), did mine approx 3 years ago and still fine, Remember to keep old fluid can be used again, I poured mine away without thinking

You could do several tanks with the kit..
