Recently had some carb work done and whilst it was there asked the man to change the oil. Checking now when cold the oil level glass is full as in no level..Checked with the bike chap he said run the bike for 30 seconds, turn off, let stand for 30 seconds and check...did so , bang on full marker... I have always just checked when it was cold, I now have a bit more oil in it than I used to have
Anyone heard of this?

Yer man is wrong and covering his arse with the hot check speil.
Oil should be no higher than the top mark when cold.
Too high and it will blow it out the breather.
I bet he just bunged in a full 4 litres instead of 3.7 or didn't change the filter or drain the housing too.

Oil always checked on a cold engine.

As the others said he's wrong, if it was mine id be dropping some out

I agree that it is wrong what your man said and did, I prefer to do my own oil change on my Z1B because of the washer that goes between the spring and the filter, i think it would be all to easy to over look the washer, thinking it is part of the old filter.
